I would like to nominate The Moosewood Cookbook (see Anny Byrn's latest re: Ukrainian cake) and The Cookbook in Support of the United Nations ed. by Kimbal Musk (because LOL at that combo)
"Most bannable recipe and reason: Vegetable Mingle (p. 35) - per new executive legislation, vegetables should not mingle" — No, please, this is amazing, especially in combination with the Richard Scarry pig 😂
"per new executive legislation, vegetables should not mingle"!! I am laughing & also crying & gnashing my teeth & shaking my fist! brilliant as always.
This is a brilliant idea for series! There are SO MANY important cookbooks to consider. A quick scan of some from my shelf: Egerton's "Southern Food," Tipton-Martin's "Jubiliee," Terry's "Black Food," Barrow's "Bagels, Schmears, and a Nice Piece of Fish"...Sarah Foster's numerous books and Lundy's, "Victuals," not so much. (Although I know Ronnie is deeply committed to diversity!) I'm looking forward to reading more! Thanks for penning. :-)
Well according to the rubric, Ronni is a woman and she's writing about marginalized history, ipso facto, she's bannable (I'll have to let her know next time I see her)! Love all of these ideas and thank you for reading!
Welp, looks like it’s time to go ahead and get all the food history books on my wishlist. Now or never.
You never know when the tap gets turned off!
Albondigas 🤣🤣🤣
Literally one of my favorite Spanish words, too!
What a fun idea!

Ooooh Moosewood is a great rec and OMG I had no idea the Kimbal Musk book existed (his existence in the food world already cracks me up).
